  • Reimagine Melbourne’s spaces to create vibrant, inclusive environments that foster social connection and encourage people to live, work, and play in the city post-lockdown.

  • Winning Initiative: Sage Automation's "MV Arcade - You Are the Controller," an outdoor interactive AR gaming installation.

  • How It Works: Users control the game with their bodies through a sensor system scanning a 10x10 area, displayed on a large screen.

We explored three interactive public experiences, each offering a unique approach to engaging people in shared city spaces.

  • SMS/Messenger: Most accessible and scalable, but can become stale without updates.

  • Night-time installations: Visually impressive and creative, yet limited by timing and visibility.

  • Collaborative music experiences: Offer strong community and economic value, but need significant infrastructure.

Survey and interview data were analysed to uncover user needs and preferences, providing valuable direction for refining Memory Trap’s design and overall user experience.

  • Accessibility: Prioritize vibrant colours, larger details, and clear instructions for users with visual or physical limitations.

  • Inclusivity: Design slower-paced and easy-to-use interactions to support all abilities.

  • Game Preferences: Combine competitive and cooperative elements to encourage teamwork and engagement.

  • Environment: Create a welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere that promotes comfort and participation.
